Devices are defined within the ‘Device-‘ data sheets. Device Definitions serve two purposes:

To define devices and associated templates

To define device specific settings and file names

The following data fields are required to define the devices and categories:

DN:x: – Defines a device name. Only 1 DN definition per device is allowed

e.g. DN:A:Primary Router

DT:x: – Defines a template associated with . Multiple DT’s per device are allowed

e.g. DT:A:SecurityTemplates

DF:x: – (Optional) Defines a device filename when saving. Only 1 DF definition per device is allowed

e.g. DF:A:Primary Router Filename

DA:x: –  (Optional) Specifies the produced output will be appended to any existing found file. Only 1 DA definition per device is allowed

e.g. DA:A:Append

DR:x: –  (Optional) Specifies the produced output, does not include any additional Gen IT information.  Only 1 DN definition per device is allowed

e.g. DR:A:

DL:x: –  (Optional) Specifies the produced output will use LFs instead of CRLFs.  Only 1 DL definition per device is allowed

e.g. DL:A:LineFeed

DE:x: –  (Optional) Specifies the produced text output encoding scheme.  Only 1 DE definition per device is allowed

e.g. DE:A:Encoding

DS:x: –  (Optional) Specifies the file type to be used when saving.  Only 1 DS definition per device is allowed

e.g. DS:A:FileType

DO:x: –  (Optional) Specifies the order in which to process Include Statements or Compound Templates.  Only 1 DO definition per device is allowed

e.g. DO:A:ProcessOrder

The 'x', typically a number or letter, is used to link the various parts of the device definitions together. In the example below, the 'A' links the files together.

DN:A:Core Router

DT:A:Security Template

DT:A:Base Template

DT:A:L3 Template

DF:A:Filename

DA:A:Append

DR:A:RAW Output

DR:A:LineFeed

DE:A:Encoding

DS:A:FileType

DO:A:ProcessOrder

Devices must be added to spreadsheets named ‘Device-‘. Data added to spreadsheets named otherwise will be ignored by Gen IT.

Important – All ‘Data-‘ sheets and ‘Device-‘ sheets must contain the same amount of data rows, and must include identical ‘ID‘ columns/rows in order to join the data from all sheets into a single dataset.
